Our Motorhome Adventures – Camping de Ommekeer

This site was chosen primarily because of it’s proximity to where Dirkje lived but secondly because like the UK the prices of both the sites we generally use when here had rocketed
The choice was, however, good the site looked flat but we did use levellers to raise the front of the van a couple of inches. Each pitch had an EHU, a water tap and a grey water disposal point. The showers and toilets are spotless but in common with many sites in Holland there were no soap or hand towels, and although Sue had lovely hot water in the ladies showers there seemed to be no hot water in the gents. Plenty in the basins, none in the showers.
For most of the year Camping de Ommekeer is a quiet site but it comes alive when the (very) close by Dutch TT Track is holding a major event. They crowbar 1000 plus tents on the site and 1000 plus motorhomes/caravans on a piece of land they rent a few metres up the road. They open a bar, a restaurant, and hire live bands. To get a chance to book a pitch you must apply at least at year in advance.
